Hotel Blendin Bloemendaal opened its doors last November. It is a luxury boutique hotel with 49 rooms featuring natural beach colors and rounded shapes, situated on top of the dunes. The owner of Blendin is Jeroen Postma, and the interior was designed by Hans Kuijten, in collaboration with DEP and RH Interiors.

LUXE BOUTIQUE HOTEL

The hotel has 49 rooms, with views of the North Sea or the Kennemer dunes. There is a bar serving breakfast, fresh coffee, and cocktails. The beachside terrace is open when the weather is nice. In addition to the main building, Blendin also has an annex. The event space on the ground floor offers sea views, ideal for meetings. On the first floor there are three separate suites and a sauna. At the top, on the roof, there is an infinity pool.

STORY LINE DESIGN

"I was commissioned at the time to design a hotel on the Bloemendaal coast based on a storyline; a beachy feel, but also hip and not too dark," says Hans Kuijten. The storyline was created by Roemer Overdiep of Inleisure, based on books and drawings by local nature enthusiast Jac P. Thijsse. The exterior of the hotel was designed by Diederendirrix from Eindhoven. The design of the project had to evoke a warm feeling.

HET INTERIEUR

In the interior spaces, all elements have rounded shapes, which contrasts with the design of the building's exterior, which features sharp and angular forms. Hans Kuijten: "The hotel rooms contain elements that tell a story, giving each room its own unique character." The design primarily uses refined and soft tones, with the same colors and materials used throughout the entire hotel.

The color scheme primarily features beach-inspired colors, such as warm beige and the green of the dune grasses, without giving it the feel of a typical beach club. The hotel has several designated areas where guests can relax, enjoy coffee at the bar, or have breakfast. There is also a shop-in-shop area.
