We consider a stay in a hotel an experience, but our own home can also be such a place. Hans Kuijten brought his experience from the events and hospitality industry to the residential housing segment and designs exclusive interiors that consistently combine a feeling of coming home with a touch of discovery. However, a typical Hans Kuijten interior is always the result of intensive collaboration with the owner. This is also true for this renovated villa in North Brabant, which is characterized by its extensive use of art in the decor.
Upon entering the home, the first thing that strikes you is the use of color. In a Hans Kuijten interior, you'll never find white walls, and often instead, you'll see striking wallpaper. This is also the case in the entrance hall. The walls contribute to the chic appearance of the interior and also enhance the feeling of intimacy and warmth. The beautiful wooden panels are also eye-catching. The colors of the large canvas hanging there complement those of the wallpaper. The selection of artworks was extensive, and the often surrealistic figurative pieces add atmosphere and personality to every room in the house. Art creates the atmosphere in this home, elevating the interior to a level that is determined not only by the beauty of forms, colors, and materials, but also by the imagination of the artists.
The kitchen island and cabinets are not over the top, but functional and finished in soft, warm colors. The home bar has become a space for entertaining guests or celebrating special occasions. The champagne bottles are there for a reason. The living room strikes a balance between a lounge and a home cinema, as the combination of comfortable furniture and a life-size screen allows it to transform into a private movie theater in an instant.
The staircase leading to the upper floor is also impressive, giving this part of the house a tower-like effect. Each of the bedrooms has the allure of a suite, not only because of the comfort but also because of their size, perfectly capturing the hotel-like atmosphere that Hans Kuijten is so skilled at creating. From the front door to the roof, this interior clearly demonstrates how the owner and architect collaborated, refining each other's ideas and channeling their mutual enthusiasm. This house, in contrast to many others, will undoubtedly continue to elicit admiring glances for years to come, just as it did upon completion.
