"It's a great honor to create a loving environment where family, friends, and acquaintances say goodbye to a loved one," says Hans Kuijten, who designed the atmospheric interior of Pelgrimshof Crematorium in Gemert. An interior that embraces you and offers warmth during a difficult farewell.

The building, designed by Denkkamer Architectuur & Onderzoek, has the appearance of a modern, sleek farmhouse, stylishly blends into the park-like surroundings designed by Studio Siebers. Denkkamer also created the floor plan of the attractive building. Pelgrimshof owner, Paul van Weert, commissioned Studio Hans Kuijten to give the crematorium's interior a unique, warm, comfortable, and homey feel. A place where guests feel welcome and comfortable, despite the emotional impact of a cremation.

COMFORT AND BEAUTY

The spacious entrance hall is reminiscent of a luxury hotel lobby. Pelgrimshof staff welcome guests from behind a beautiful marble reception desk, then direct them to the homely setting, furnished with comfortable furniture, by the large windows. Studio Hans Kuijten paid careful attention to good acoustics throughout the building, creating a pleasant atmosphere in both the aforementioned seating area and the main hall where the funeral services are held. In the latter, too, Hans and his team combined comfort with beauty, and the stunning view provides an extra touch of warmth during an emotional service.

UNIQUE LOCATION

The other special spaces in the crematorium include the stunning area near the ovens, where Studio Hans Kuijten incorporated a beautiful marble wall, among other elements, and the luxurious, homely suites where family and friends can spend the days leading up to the service in complete comfort and privacy with the deceased. After the ceremony – available during the day or in the evening – the group moves to the richly and warmly decorated bar/lounge, where they can reflect on the deceased in a pleasant atmosphere, with both laughter and tears. All of this makes Pelgrimshof a unique location to say goodbye. But despite its beauty and comfort, we hope we won't have to visit this beautiful place for a long time to come. Here's to life...
