Door: EXCELLENT Wonen en Leven

While architect Huub Segeren of H3 Architects designed the building's exterior and the layout of the wellness area, and garden designer Fons Linders unleashed his creativity in the garden, Hans Kuijten was asked to add atmosphere, experience, and warmth to areas such as the bar, restaurant, and lobby. "My good friend and fellow villager Fons Linders had mentioned my name to the clients, and they were impressed by my portfolio. This feeling was reinforced after a visit to several hospitality establishments whose interiors I had designed."

GENERAL PUBLIC “During the initial discussions, it became clear to me that the clients did not want a sterile, clinical swimming pool atmosphere in the living spaces. Rather, they wanted a warm, inviting hotel atmosphere with a touch of luxury. Without anything extreme, quirky, or overly distinctive. A pleasant, secure feeling that appeals to a broad audience.” "Couples in their early twenties visit wellness centers, but so do older men and women. The fact that I have already designed several hospitality establishments both domestically and internationally – naturally catering to all age groups – was therefore very helpful during this design process," says the passionate and eloquent designer.

CONNECTION BETWEEN INSIDE AND OUTSIDE “When designing a wellness center, you naturally have to take into account that chairs, benches, and the floor will get wet. That's why, for example, we opted for a PVC floor with a wood look instead of a real wood floor, and why we used water-resistant materials for the upholstery,” explains Hans Kuijten. He continues: “By using various types of natural stone and walnut wood, and by furnishing the walls, curtains, and upholstery in natural shades such as taupe, various shades of brown, and moss green, we succeeded in creating the desired warm atmosphere in the relaxation areas. And you also feel the connection with the surrounding garden.”

WARM BLANKET Naturally, visitors to Spa One, located in Oosterhout in the province of North Brabant, are seated on comfortable chairs and sofas, and the rest of the furniture is also of high quality. The striking fireplace – which also serves as a room divider – and the eye-catching lighting are the focal points in the interior designed by Hans Kuijten, while the curtains used for the large and tall glass panels not only contribute to the atmosphere but also ensure good acoustics in the rooms. The overall picture is serene and balanced. A warm blanket that pleases and puts visitors at ease. Perfectly suited to a wellness center where visitors come to enjoy and relax.
