Grenshotel de Jonckheer offers 61 spacious and modern hotel rooms, various meeting facilities and a very atmospheric restaurant. We have supplied various custom-made items, including for the hotel rooms and the restaurant.

“The couple Ronny and Karin Jonckheere came to me about 3 or 4 years ago to design the interior for the expansion of their hotel. They had seen several of my hotel projects, including Van der Valk Dordrecht, and were convinced that I was the right man for the job! The style and the high quality of workmanship in my work really appealed to them. Isn't it wonderful to receive such compliments about something you're always so passionate about?” says Hans Kuijten.

“It started in 2017 after an open briefing, with the creation of the first design sketches. I created a mood board showing the style and materials I envisioned… and it turned out to be a great success! This allowed me to proceed with the various designs for the entire hotel, including the restaurant, the buffet area, the lobby, the function rooms, private dining areas, and of course, the hotel rooms. Essentially, they gave me carte blanche.”

My design style can best be described as warm and homely, using natural tones with a few eye-catching elements. Luxury combined with simplicity and calm materials and colors.”

“After the design phase, everything naturally had to be realized. When Ronny and Karin asked if I knew a company that could carry out the work, I was able to answer quickly: Nijboer from Mariënheem. This quickly proved to be the right match! The entire project went very smoothly. The collaboration, the craftsmanship, and the advice from Nijboer were a welcome addition.”

The complete project has become a total experience in an environment where you might not immediately expect this level of luxury and finish. Metropolitan hospitality in the Dutch-Belgian border region... a true gem in the area!

“Our collaboration came about because Hans Kuijten introduced you to us as an interior design company.” Owner Ronny Jonckheere explains: “Hans created the initial design, and then Mariska, your interior architect, further developed and fine-tuned it. It was a very pleasant and effective collaboration. I would even go so far as to say that we have found a good partner for future projects.”

During the construction work, it was incredibly hectic, and we had to make countless decisions. I was very pleased that the men from Nijboer were so flexible... nothing was too much trouble, they thought along with me, and communication was excellent. It was great to work together with everyone to achieve the best possible result!

Of course, there are always some areas for improvement during such a large project; we discussed these and resolved them immediately where possible. The result? Our local community is reacting very positively. "It could easily be a Van der Valk hotel," is one of the comments we received. A nice compliment, of course, but we remain Grenshotel De Jonckheer!
